What is Fair Share • Chore Balance?

Fair Share • Chore Balance is an iOS app by Andrea Esposito that measures how time spent on household chores is split within a household: a couple, a family or flatmates. You log a chore in one gesture, with the timer, by hand or by voice, and the app shows who carries what. It is available in English and French (as “Qui Fait Quoi ?”).

The app collects no data: everything stays on your iPhone and in your private iCloud. See the privacy policy.

Frequently asked questions

How do I invite someone to my household?

Household sharing comes with the “Shared Household” in-app purchase (€4.99, one-time), which lets you invite up to 5 people. Start the invitation from the app: iOS opens Apple's share sheet and you send the link through Messages, Mail or any app you like. The invited person opens the link on their iPhone, with the app installed and signed in to iCloud, then accepts the invitation.

Why does sync require iCloud?

Fair Share has no server: your data is synced by CloudKit, in your own private iCloud account, and shared between household members through Apple's native sharing. Without a signed-in iCloud account (with iCloud allowed for the app), the app works on your iPhone alone, but nothing can be synced or shared. Check under Settings > [your name] > iCloud that the app is allowed.

My data doesn't show up for the other person. What should I do?

Check, in order: 1) the other person has accepted the invitation; 2) you are both signed in to iCloud, with iCloud allowed for the app; 3) both iPhones are online; 4) the iCloud storage of the person who created the household is not full; 5) Low Power Mode can delay sync. Then open the app on both devices and wait a moment. If the problem persists, write to us with your iOS versions.

How do I restore my “Shared Household” purchase?

The purchase is tied to your Apple Account and handled entirely by Apple. On a new iPhone or after reinstalling, sign in with the same Apple Account, then use “Restore Purchases” from the “Shared Household” offer screen. You will not be charged twice. Refunds are requested from Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.

How do I use dictation?

Tap the microphone button and say the chore you want to log. The first time, iOS asks for access to the microphone and speech recognition. Transcription happens on your iPhone: the audio is neither kept nor sent anywhere. If you declined access, turn it back on in Settings, under the app's entry. You can also log a chore by hand or with the timer.

How do I delete my data?

Delete the app from your iPhone to erase the local data. For the iCloud copy, go to Settings > [your name] > iCloud > Manage Storage, pick the app and delete its data. We hold none of your data, so there is nothing to request from us. If you take part in someone else's household, the shared data is stored in their iCloud: only they can delete it or stop sharing.

Does Fair Share collect my data?

No. There is no server, no analytics, no advertising tracker and no third-party SDK. Your data stays on your device and in your private iCloud. Details are in the privacy policy.
